Teaching assistantships

Total of four years of experience teaching foundational and advanced quantum mechanics, computational chemistry, soft matter, biological physics, software carpentry, HPC, and astronomy topics. Languages: Python, Fortran, Julia, MATLAB, and Bash.

Supervision and mentoring

I supervise, mentor, and proactively support graduate, master’s, and bachelor’s students, acting as their first point of contact for guidance throughout a project.

At Arizona State University’s Beyond Center, I mentored, supervised, and trained postdocs (4), staff scientists (1), graduate students (12), and undergraduate students (4), and supported the onboarding of new group members. This included day-to-day management of a large interdisciplinary research lab, running weekly group meetings, training workshops, research seminars, and a journal club.

At the University of Surrey, I contributed to the mentoring, supervising, and training of graduate (3) and undergraduate (4) students, and served as primary supervisor for two MPhys research students, guiding them through their research projects and writing. Both students produced first-author papers from their research year and received grades in the top 5% of the cohort (King et al., 2023; Warman et al., 2023).

Assessment

Graded undergraduate coursework for labs in scientific computing and written essays. Assessed projects and marked assignments for master’s-level students.

Course development

Developed course materials and practicals for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in physics and chemistry. Designed and advised content for the redevelopment of an undergraduate course in the new age of generative AI (software carpentry, modern computational techniques, and computational chemistry).
